Expedition Press publishes poetry books, broadsides, and visual art with a typographic focus. Our mission is to deepen regard for language and to increase access to poetry.
Our shop houses a fully equipped letterpress studio and bindery, including three platen presses, board shears, a guillotine paper cutter, and thousands of pounds of metal type. We teach workshops on occasion and collaborate closely with independent publishers, poets, artists, and select clients. Commissions are accepted on a limited basis. We like literary-oriented projects best, however we do not provide services for self-publishing.
Expedition Press is located in downtown Kingston WA (northwest USA), a few blocks from the ferry dock. We’re open by appointment or by chance. You can find out what we’re up to at all hours on Instagram, and we’d love to stay connected via email.
Who’s behind the press?
Expedition Press is run by artist Myrna Keliher. She holds a B.A. from the Evergreen State College and apprenticed with Stern & Faye, Printers. Her work is exhibited both nationally and internationally and is collected by the University of Washington. She travels regularly to teach, speak, study, collaborate, and attend residencies. Myrna also shows interdisciplinary work at Core Gallery in Seattle, and in her spare time helps run Wild Society, a wilderness education nonprofit.
Expedition’s work is supported by a lively cadre of artists, authors, binders, poets, printers, interns, friends, family, and neighbors near and far. With deep regard and mutual respect, we’re grateful for the work we do and our growing community of readers, writers, and makers. You’re invited! Say hello.
