Expedition’s work aims to make poetry public in a way that’s difficult to ignore and easy to disseminate. Mostly, we put words on paper. Sometimes we project and paint them.
Publishing & artwork
We publish new poetry in the form of broadsides and books. We also produce original artwork across many media. These activities often correspond and interrelate.
Publishing projects are solicited and self-initiated; Expedition Press is not open for general submissions. We don’t have the resource to responsibly attend to unsolicited manuscripts. At odds with this reality is our desire to discover new work and support working writers. Hence, our propaganda services (dear poets, please read on).
Partnerships with literary organizations
We do collaborative co-publishing projects that call attention to a given text, as well as straight-across commissions (design & print for hire). We love to take an active role in helping promote authors whose work we admire and independent publishers whose values align with ours. Cross-pollination is good for the literary ecosystem!
Typical projects include broadsides, inserts, bookmarks, postcards, keepsakes, etc. If you want words on a wall we’re happy to talk about that too. Propose a project now.
Propaganda packages for authors
We are glad to support individual poets and writers with simple impactful paper goods. These ‘propaganda packages’ are an attempt to streamline our design and printing services in honor of your budget and our limited time. Get more details and/or submit a propaganda inquiry now.
What we don’t do
We don’t offer self-publishing services; we don’t make books for hire; we don’t do wedding invitations; we rarely do digital design-only work. We don’t do much jobwork in general (business cards, announcements, invites, etc), though we make time to support local folks doing good work in our community whenever possible. We can recommend a number of great designers and printers with different specialties, please ask.
